Press Releases of the Kingdom of Araucania and Patagonia
Declaration of the Chancellery of the Kingdom of Araucanía and Patagonia – Days of Mapuche Nation Sovereignty (7th January 2026)
This official declaration of the Chancellery of the Kingdom of Araucanía and Patagonia, issued on the occasion of the Days of Mapuche Nation Sovereignty on January 6 and 7, recalls the historic Treaties of Quillin (1641) and Tapihue (1825). These agreements form the legal foundation for the international recognition of the territorial sovereignty of the Mapuche people and the Wallmapu under international law.
The declaration outlines the historical, diplomatic, and legal context of these treaties, reaffirms the continuity of the Mapuche State before and after the independence of Chile and Argentina, and reiterates the commitment of the Kingdom of Araucanía and Patagonia to the peaceful defense of the rights, independence, and territorial integrity of the Mapuche people.
