The Kingdom of Araucania and Patagonia, founded in 1860 by Orélie-Antoine de Tounens, is a constitutional monarchical state dedicated to defending the rights of indigenous peoples, especially the Mapuche people, in the face of the colonization of Chile and Argentina.
A visionary and bold French lawyer, Antoine de Tounens, initiated a political approach to offer Mapuche people a framework of resistance, freedom and justice. His legacy still inspires defenders of human rights and indigenous culture.
Since May 12, 2025, the 9th Prince of Araucania, Antoine V, has embodied a modern and active royalty. Elected according to the Kingdom's Constitution, he continues the founder's mission through humanitarian actions, cultural projects and a strong international commitment. Co-founder of the NGO Ordre de l'Étoile du Sud, he works for the recognition of the Mapuche and the preservation of their ancestral territo ry.
