Prince Antoine V of Araucania Coronation
Monte Carlo, Monaco – November 22, 2025
The Principality of Monaco hosted a historical and solemn event with the coronation of Laurent LAFAYNE as the 9th Prince of Araucanía and Patagonia on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
Elected as Prince Antoine V on May 12, 2025, the French citizen formally took the lead of this elective monarchy, which continues a lineage initiated in 1860.
Focus on the Mapuche Mission
Prince Antoine V’s primary mission is to serve as the international voice for the Mapuche People, an indigenous nation of approximately 1.7 million individuals spread across Chile and Argentina.
The ceremony gathered guests from over 12 different nationalities and representatives from foreign monarchical orders. A special tribute was paid to Josephine Baker, with her son, Mr. Luis Bouillon Baker, accepting the Order of the Steel Crown posthumously on her behalf.
Upcoming State Visit
Demonstrating his commitment, Prince Antoine V has scheduled a State Visit to Wallmapu (the Kingdom’s territory) in early 2026. The trip will focus on meeting with Mapuche authorities and engaging with local project leaders supported by the Kingdom’s NGO, the Order of the Southern Star.
